On-site surveys

The IFDP site-survey evaluates how most effectively to protect your property against flooding. We consider and identify:

• The possibility of diverting water before it reaches your walls
• How best to seal the principal openings
• Any preparatory work required to improve the imperviousness of walls
• The state of existing seals around door and window frames
• The most suitable means of sealing air-bricks and other vents
• Possible measures to improve flood resilience inside the house

Of vital importance are your own preferences, your access requirements during flood situations and confidence to handle and fit different styles of barrier. We will take these into account in our report, which will include recommendations.

For a community group, IFDP can advise on larger scale projects which can protect groups of houses and larger areas against flooding. These include community alarm systems, permanent works and demountable flood defences.
