Serious solutions to serious problems - protecting groups of properties and stretches of land and
highway, demountable systems are used where a permanent concrete wall would be inappropriate.
These industrial-grade portable cofferdams are water-inflated temporary dams that provide an economical, effective and safe alternative to conventional dam methods like sandbags, earthen berms and mechanical barriers.
Aqua-Barrier cofferdams are manufactured with the highest quality materials to assure consistent and reliable performance. When you need temporary portable dams for construction worksite dewatering, Aqua-Barrier provides a functional, reliable and cost-effective solution.
Flood Control
Flood Control were the first company to introduce demountable flood barriers
to the UK and since our first installation in 2001, the system has been used in
numerous Government and private flood defence schemes…..

Our demountable barriers are engineered to provide similar levels of
protection to permanent flood defences but with the distinct advantage of
being fully removable when not required.
Demountable flood barriers can be supplied for virtually any configuration
including arcs, closed rectangles or circles and straight runs of any
length. The systems can be used on slopes up to 20° & can be stepped for
steeper gradients. Each system is load calculated based on application and
the prevailing flood conditions and can be configured for flood depths up to
4mtrs.
Ideal for protecting highways, long store fronts, wide vehicle entrances &
for creating wide area flood defences, these systems can also be used to
increase the height of concrete flood walls, quaysides & dams.
To facilitate installation in new building projects, we supply pre-formed
ground plates with integral anchors for the demountable supports. These
incorporate concrete ties for load stability and tensile bars for welding to
the foundation steel &, once installed, they present a totally flat ground
surface and have an optional non-slip finish for added safety in pedestrian
areas.
The systems can be retrospectively fitted to suitable existing foundations
in which case load certified, chemically fixed, sleeved anchors are used to
attach the demountable supports.
Purpose designed seals that resist silt clogging and will reform even after
prolonged compression, together with vandal resistant covers and lockable
clamps, make these systems ideal for locations where semi-permanent
installation is a requirement.
The modular design facilitates storage & transportation and the economically
positioned carrying handles enable all but the higher systems to be erected
without the need for mechanical lifting equipment.
Waterwall
Our Removable Dam system has been engineered to provide similar levels of protection to permanent flood defence schemes, but with the distinct advantage of being removable when not required - thus preserving the integrity of the landscape and architecture. The system can be used between existing structures but has been primarily designed to be completely self-supporting over almost any distance and may be specified for virtually any height of flood water.
A simple technique is now available for protection against flood water up to 1.80 meter deep using standard pallets, a metal support and a waterproof geomembrane. Other applications of the patented technique include temporary storage of water, fertiliser, sludge and bulk goods. It is also possible to dry out areas covered with shallow water.
Aqua Barrier is assembled by inclining each pallet against its support so that they form a line in the desired direction. The barrier can follow ground contours vertically and horizontally. For 90 degree turns, a triangular module is available which is assembled at the outer or inner corner. One man can easily assemble 200-300 metres in a day.
NOAQ
A NOAQ Tube Wall weighs less than half a percent of a correspondent sandbag barrier, and is easily handled by 2 - 4 people. A Tube Wall works as good on lawns and meadows as on gravel roads and asphalt, and does not require any preparations or abutments. Instead it utilizes the weight of the flood water for anchoring.
A NOAQ Tube Wall consists of airfilled tubes of reinforced plastic, interconnected by ordinary zips to form a chain. Each tube has a ”skirt” attached alongside the tube, on the ”flood side”. When water start rising the skirt is pressed firmly towards the ground, hereby anchoring the tube. We call it ”The Bookend Principle”, as it works in the same way as an ordinary bookend. The bookend is supporting the books, but is in its turn kept in place because of the heavy books standing on it.
The Tube Wall was developed in Sweden with the support of the Swedish Rescue Services Agency and has been used succesfully during flood events. It has also been awarded the SKAPA prize, yearly distributed to three Swedish top inventions. In December 2002 it also won first prize in BBC´s live broadcasted ”Best Inventions” show.
