Stopping the Tas
By kind permission of the Environment Agency, we chose to demonstrate the versatility and
effectiveness of the Aqua Levee flood control system by stopping the River Tas.

Accessing the site was simple. Aqua Levee packs flat for easy transportation and storage.
Up to 160 metres of barrier can be towed on a trailer.

In less than fifteen minutes two men, operating a 50mm pump to fill the units, were able
to stem the flow of the river. In that time, the riverbed was dried, enabling inspection
or work, or representing the enormous savings from potential damage to businesses and
communities had the river been a flood.

The pool upstream rose fourteen inches while the barriers were in place, enabling us to
simulate much faster flowing water by removing a barrier. Another unit was simply inserted
into the gap, filled, and the effective temporary barrier reinstated, demonstrating the
real-world abilities of the Aqua Levee system.

Once our tests were completed, the units were simply removed, drained and packed on the
trailer, ready for another deployment.

CD videos of this deployment, and others in the USA, are available. Please call
